The survey compared 20 neighborhoods in the Chicago metropolitan area according to the average nightly room rates for the least expensive double guestrooms available. Room rates for 3-star hotels and above for the month of June 2019 were considered.

In Lake View on Chicago’s North Side, travelers spend an average $217 per night for the least expensive double room. Following on Lake View’s heels is Lincoln Park, the second-priciest Chicago neighborhood for accommodations at an average $184 per night.

For cost-conscious travelers, Schaumburg is the most affordable Chicago neighborhood. The northwestern suburb offers room rates starting at $89. Very similarly, Lansing and Hammond, also suburbs, offer guests average nightly rates starting at $94 and $97, respectively.

However, Chicago’s most popular destinations for travelers by far are the downtown Loop district and Near South Side (Magnificent Mile). There, travelers pay an average $161 per night for a guestroom in the former, and just a few dollars more for guestrooms around the latter.
