The Windy City’s leading hotel booking site, ChicagoHotels.org, has just announced the winners of its 2012 Hotel Awards. The main basis of these awards, which were handed out in three different categories, is evaluations the hotels received over the past 12 months from customers subsequent to their stays.
In the “Best Luxury Hotel in Chicago” category,
The Peninsula Chicago took home the accolades. Another category, the “Best Value for Money,” broke the candidates up by neighborhood. The three hotels that received award recognition in each of Chicago’s most sought-after neighborhoods were:
- Silversmith Hotels & Suites in Chicago’s Loop district
- Affinia Chicago around the popular Magnificent Mile shopping area
- SpringHill Suites Chicago conveniently situation near O’Hare Airport
In the final category, “Best Budget Hotel,” the
Willows Hotel walked away with the honors. Located in Chicago's Lakeview and Lincoln Park neighborhood, this 2.5-star accommodation drew customer raves for its affordability.

About the Awards:
In the categories of Best Luxury Hotels (5-star and 4.5-star hotels) and Best Budget Hotels (2- and 2.5-star hotels), ChicagoHotels.org determined the winners based solely on client evaluations over the past 12 months. Those evaluations were compiled from reviews on the leading hotel booking sites: Expedia, Priceline, Hotels.com and Orbitz.
In the Best Value for Money category, 3-, 3.5- and 4-star hotels in the Loop, the Magnificent Mile, the O’Hare Airport districts were evaluated. Customer evaluations as well as the average price over the past 12 months were considered for this award. For example, a hotel offering a much cheaper price but earning only a slightly worse overall evaluation was considered superior.
